Andrew is a urologist with expertise in robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of both benign and malignant urological conditions. With 20 years experience his private practice is based at Epworth Freemasons Hospital and he has a public appointment at Austin Health.
Following the completion of his medical degree at The University of Melbourne in 1990 he undertook his internship and basic surgical training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He then spent two years in general surgery training at The Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and P.A.N.C.H.
He was accepted into the Urology Training Program in 1996 and initially headed to Christchurch, New Zealand to undertake research on the immune response to prostate and bladder cancer. His subsequent clinical training was undertaken at The Austin and Royal Melbourne Hospitals leading to the awarding of his FRACS in urology in 2000.
He was then awarded the Urological Society Travelling Fellowship, which took him to Edinburgh to pursue advanced training in Endo-Urology under Professor David Tolley. He obtained extensive experience in the treatment of kidney stones and laparoscopic surgery.
Andrew has since undertaken further training in various treatment modalities for prostate cancer. He was trained to perform brachytherapy at the Swedish Medical Centre in Seattle in 2004. He spent time at The City of Hope Hospital in California in 2005 to learn the technique of robotic prostatectomy and more recently has been certified to use the NanoKnife to treat localized cancers of the prostate.
